The Bee published collections of his Fresno Sketchbook pen and ink drawings of Valley landmarks in 1991 and 1993.

Hansen received both his BA and MA in Art from California State University, Fresno.
He is now a professor in the Graphic Design area at Fresno State and teaches illustration in both traditional and digital mediums.

Hansen illustrated two books of essays by Del Rey author David “Mas” Masumoto: Letters to the Valley: A Harvest of Memories in 2004,
and Heirlooms: Letters from a Peach Farmer in 2007.

Heyday has published two of Doug’s richly illustrated children’s books: Mother Goose in California, in 2009 and Aesop in California in 2013.
A third “California-centric” illustrated children’s book, titled California, the Magic Island, will be published by Heyday in April 2016.

We look forward to seeing you!

I resently found an original oil painting by Jill Hansen Fresno Ca 1980 entitled Homestead. Is she relative of yours? Do you know anything about this Fresno artist?

      Hello, Michelle,

Unfortunately Doug Hansen was a guest artist, presenting his work to Yosemite Western Artists and not a member of our group. Doug is currently a professor at California State University, Fresno. You’ll have your best chance of making a connection with him there.
